Going Deeper with God

In the past six and a half years of New Life history, we have emphasized the importance of Sunday corporate worship, weekly house church gathering, intercessory prayer and missions. There are other essential elements of a local church, such as community outreach and Bible studies, that we need to pay attention to and must develop in order for us to become a biblically fully functioning church, and we will do so when the time comes. But there is a reason why I haven't stressed the significance of Bible studies in New Life all these years. The purpose of studying the ...

Space Expansion Plans

As I mentioned last time, space has become a major problem at our church. In order to continue being an effective church, we must find ways to provide space to accommodate the non-believers that God sends our way. Here are the plans we are currently considering. I'm sharing these to ask for your help with them and to solicit any suggestions you might have. First, there is the problem of worship space. The current plan is to find ways to maximize the use of our existing facilities. For example, there are still open spaces in the front of the sanctuary during the Sunday ...

Highlights Of Last Year And Tasks For The New Year

Before I believed in Christ, I used to drink excessively on Christmas. The reason being, I felt I had to do something special for Christmas, but I didn't know what to do. So my way of celebrating was drinking until I passed out! After I became a follower of Christ I stopped drinking, but I still had this feeling that I must do something different at Christmas time. And it was bad for me because it was almost an obsession. To escape it, I decided to treat Christmas just like any other day. More Excellent President

The presidential election of Korea is over. During the campaign, I would often read internet bulletin board posts from newspaper readers. It always made me feel uncomfortable. Then on December 14, approximately one week before the election, I read an article in the Korean Daily Newspaper by a columnist named Mr. Yuk Kil Won. Reading it was like finding ...

Please Serve the Shepherds and Shepherdesses

I hear that in Buddhists countries the beggars are not appreciative of those who help them because the beggars feel they are helping the helpers to get into the Paradise. Some house church members may have similar thoughts. Even when their shepherds and their spouses provide help for them, they are not very appreciative. They seem to believe they themselves offeing their shepherd a chance to serve. Therefore, Instead of being thankful, if the shepherd's help is below their expectation, they complain. There is no reason why the shepherd must serve their members. ...

Helping Our Offering Counting Servants!

When Sunday worship is over and we are happily having our fellowship with one another over refreshments, there are a couple of people whose ministry just begins. They are the offering counting servants. For the sake of accountability, we have at least two people count the offering at church immediately after worship. That's why their fellowship time is often cut very short. They are some of the few unsung heroes of our church. In order to help their ministry become more efficient, we are going to use the newly designed offering envelopes in just a few weeks. This ...

A Welcoming Headache

Recently we have baptism ceremony every Sunday except when we have the Lord's Supper. It is a proof that many people are getting saved through our church. There is no greater joy than seeing people come to the Lord and get saved. However, there are also new challenges. Lack of parking spaces is one of them. To help solve the parking problem, I urge you to serious consider the following matters. 1. Only park in the designated spaces and times at the church next door. We can only park there after 11:15 PM, within the spaces designated by the red traffic cones. We ...
